A hurricane forms when low pressure areas form over
warm ocean waters. They are a massive low pressure system.
Water vapor feeds the hurricane. This condenses to form clouds and rain releasing heat. The heat is carried away by wind shear. These winds help evaporate water vapor from the ocean spinning inward toward the center creating more showers and thunderstorms. Here energy is released into bands called rain bands. The intensity of a hurricane is based on wind speed.
When a Hurricane hits land the water supply is cut off
and no more water can get pumped into the storm and Hurricanes can’t survive
without ocean water so the storm dies out.
